2 annoying animals in NYC

Hello, Dear Reader,

You definitely know that New York City is one of the most dense cities in the world, with more than 8 million population.

Moreover, we are not alone in this crowded place!

If you want to live in NYC, you have to find a way to live along with these annoying animals.

Pigeons

Indeed, pigeons are cute and seem no harm when you feed them in the park. After I came to New York, they became one of the nightmares in my daily life.

Unlike the same species in other place, pigeons in NY are not afraid of people and sometimes flying toward you like they’re going to attack you.

There were a couple of times when I almost got hit by a pigeon.

Also, sometimes you might find these lovely neighbors dropped a gift on your clothes. It’s so embarrassing to get bird poop on your clothes especially when you’re wearing a white shirt for an interview.

That’s why some New Yorkers think of pigeons as “rats with wings.”

Rats

No doubt.

Rats are the most notorious creatures in New York.
You can see them on the streets, parks, subway rails, etc. They are almost everywhere you can think of.

The craziest part is they appear 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the city that never sleeps, it seems that the rats don't sleep either.

Luckily, rats won’t actively approach human as pigeons do, but sometimes they sneak nearby and scare the shit out of you.

If you think you’re safe at home, then you need to hear about the story of my friend.

Jacky, one of my friends in NY, once found a rat in his bathroom while brushing his teeth in the morning.

Though the doorman sent someone to kill the rats immediately, they told him that it might happen again because sometimes rats will invade your place through the pipeline.

So, it is important to have someone check your pipe regularly if you live in the old apartment.

If you can stand for these two creatures, you might feel okay to live in NYC.
But if you are not ready then you might need to think twice before moving here.

What if you have to come, but you are not prepared to deal with them?

Word of advice.

Make sure you keep your eye on the ground and the sky all the time while you are walking outside of the building in NYC.
